Wilkinson Farm-City Week Event

On Friday, November 22, Wilkinson Elementary students enjoyed an exciting day of agricultural learning during the STEAM Turkey Trot in celebration of Farm-City Week.

From germinating seeds and juicing fresh Florida oranges to meeting adorable newborn dairy calves, the hands-on stations were packed with fun and discovery. Students explored where food comes from, the importance of good nutrition, and how agriculture supports Florida’s communities.

We’re honored to recognize Principal Susan Nations and STEAM Teacher Tessa Healy for their leadership in bringing this exciting day to life. Special thanks to Representative James Buchanan, County Commissioner Teresa Mast, Superintendent Terry Connors, School Board Members Robin Marinelli and Tim Enos, Sarasota Cattleman’s Association President Norm Stockton, and Sarasota County Farm Bureau members Bill McClain (Treasurer) and Robbie Martin (President) for joining us.

We also want to thank Greg Woods, Courtney Dakin and the Florida Ag Experience, Detweillers, Florida Ag in the Classroom, and the Green Jean team for helping us inspire young minds and showcase the importance of agriculture. Together, we’re shaping the future of ag education and supporting our community.

A big thank you to everyone who made Wilkinson Elementary’s Turkey Trot STEAM Day such a huge success and helped make this event unforgettable for the next generation of agricultural leaders.
