It has been said that “Farming ain’t for sissies.” The same can be said about Christianity! Both share a common denominator: FAITH.
The dictionary defines faith as putting complete trust or confidence in something or someone. For Christians, this simply means yielding to God with an unwavering belief that God is who He says He is and that He is in control!
The Uncertainties of Farming
Farming is full of uncertainties… weather, pests, and market fluctuations, to name just a few. Talk about stress! Farmers can carry a huge burden if they don’t put it all into the proper perspective.
Two words come to mind on this thought: Motive and Attitude. In short, what motivates you to “seize the day,” in good times and bad? What is your attitude in accomplishing the task before you?
Faith as Strength
The Bible says in the Book of Psalms, Chapter 28, verse 7:
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song, I praise Him.”
Lessons Learned Through Faith
In farming and life, I have learned valuable lessons that lighten burdens and uncertainty. At the core is FAITH that God is who He says He is. He loves us and wants to wrap His arms around us. He wants to enjoy a personal relationship with you and me. Just come as you are!
Wisdom from an Old Farmer
Let me close with a word of advice from an old farmer who has been around long enough to learn a few things:
• Know God
• Believe God
• Be Prepared
• Be Diligent
• Be Persistent
• Trust God—Leave the outcome to Him
• Honor and Praise Him no matter the results
• Rest in His Grace
